Haddad will choose between Marina, Tebet and France for vice – 06/24/2026 – Politics

The former minister said that he will make a decision by this Thursday (25) on who will be his candidate for vice-governor on the ticket headed by him in São Paulo and that the choice will be between three former assistants of the president: Marina Silva (Rede), Simone Tebet (PSB) or (PSB).

The information was released by Haddad on social media on Wednesday night (24).

According to reports, the former Finance Minister was surprised by Lula’s decision to leave him in charge of the definition. He must talk to allies about the topic and decide on the name within 24 hours.

The decision was taken after a meeting at Palácio da Alvorada between Lula and pre-candidates who will be a platform for the campaign in the state of São Paulo.

The meeting was attended by Haddad along with the presidents of and , and Edinho Silva, respectively, the vice-president (PSB) and the pre-candidates for the Senate (PSB) and (Rede).

The former ministers arrived after 4:30 pm, shortly after Lula received Senator Jaques Wagner (PT-BA), to discuss his situation at the head of the government leadership in the Senate. The two opted for the position as a result of the Federal Police investigation into their involvement in the Master case.

Haddad arrived accompanied by members of his team wearing the Brazil shirt. The plan was to decide the direction of the São Paulo stage before the start of the Brazilian team’s game against Scotland, at 7pm.

Throughout this week, França resumed talks to launch. He made the decision after he and (Missão) withdrew their respective candidacies for Palácio dos Bandeirantes.

According to allies, França argued that its entry into the dispute would contribute to the election not being resolved in the first round, as only Haddad and Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) would remain as competitive candidates.

The guarantee of a platform for Lula in the second round in São Paulo was one of the arguments used by the president to convince Haddad to run for governor in these elections.

In the PT, France’s attempt to launch itself into government because, for many, his presence at the polls could take more votes from Haddad than from Tarcísio.

A PT leader told the report that the former Minister of Entrepreneurship’s behavior has been “inconvenient”. Since last year, França had been announcing the idea of being a candidate for government.

With Haddad’s decision to run for office, the Pessebist decided to run for the Senate, although the ticket had been designed by the PT with Tebet and Marina as the candidates for the Upper House. The fact that the PSB already had Tebet running for a majority position was not taken into consideration by França, according to allies, because her candidacy was considered a request from Lula and not a decision by the party.

In 2022, França had attempted a similar movement when running for the São Paulo government. He gave up to support Haddad’s campaign, which had Lúcia França, Márcio’s wife, as vice-president, and was a candidate for senator. At the time, with only one vacancy in the Senate, the chosen one was Astronaut Marcos Pontes (PL), with 49.68% of the votes — France obtained 36.27%.
