The water in the recreation area Gazárka Šaštín-Stráže, Štrkovisko Čaňa and Ružín (SKI) is unsuitable for swimming. The areas are not suitable for swimming, as this poses an acute danger and increased health risk for all bathers. The Public Health Office (ÚVZ) of the Slovak Republic reported about it on the social network.
“Regional public health authorities continued routine inspections of the readiness of swimming pools for the swimming season in standard sampling at swimming poolswhose operators requested the start of operation, and in the usual monitoring of water quality for bathing in natural water bodies that have unorganized recreation and are without an operator,” explained ÚVZ.
Deteriorated quality of water for bathing was found on Gravel lake Kava in Komárno, Beach swimming pool Jazero in Košice and Ružín (Počkaj Beach). According to the ÚVZ, the limits of chlorophyll-a and cyanobacteria were exceeded, which may mean increased health risk for sensitive groups, such as children, pregnant women, allergy sufferers and people with a weakened immune system.
Reduced water transparency was found at the Lipovina – Bátovce water reservoir, the Duchonka and Kanianka water reservoirs. “Water transparency is not one of the health-significant indicators of the quality of water for bathing, so worse results of this indicator do not represent a threat to the health of bathers.” said the hygienists.
