Iran War | Attack on cargo ship paralyzes Hormuz evacuation plan as Israel continues attacking Lebanon

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Kazem Gharibabadi, explained this Friday that the Persian country “cannot guarantee safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz to ships transiting “with ambiguous agreements, parallel routes or decisions foreign to Iran’s considerations as a coastal State.”

In a statement published in X, Gharibabadi assures that “any credible framework must be based on coordination” between Iran and Oman, as established in the Memorandum of Understanding sealed with the United States. Both countries will dialogue “to define the future administration and maritime services in the Strait of Hormuz, in consultation with other coastal States of the Persian Gulf, in accordance with applicable international law and the sovereign rights of the States bordering the Strait of Hormuz.”
