Beach holidays without traffic jams – which beaches are easily accessible by train

In 2026, summer vacations no longer necessarily have to start with traffic jams in front of Villach, looking for a parking space in Jesolo or wondering whether the flight was really necessary. The sea has moved noticeably closer from Vienna and other Austrian train stations. And that thanks to the new Koralmbahn: According to ÖBB, Trieste can be reached from Vienna in 6:38 hours, Venice in 7:10 hours; the route leads via Graz, Klagenfurt, Villach and Udine. There are also interesting Nightjet and Euronight connections to Italy and Croatia as well as seasonal Italian trains via the Brenner Pass.
