An absolute temperature record was set in Slovakia: You won’t believe where they measured 41 degrees Celsius!

A temperature record was set in Slovakia on Monday, its value is 41 degrees Celsius. It was measured in Turni nad Bodvou in the Košice district and its surroundings. The absolute temperature record from July 2007, when they measured 40.3 degrees Celsius in Hurbanov, was thus broken. TASR was informed about this by the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ).

The SHMÚ also recorded the highest air temperatures (records) at the Štrkovec precipitation measuring stations in the Rimavská Sobota district, namely 40.6 degrees Celsius. SHMÚ also recorded records at the Mužla climatological station in Nové Zámky district, namely 40.5 degrees Celsius.

The equalization of the record from Hurbanov from 2007 occurred at the stations of Mochovce in the district of Levice and Somotor in the district of Trebišov (both 40.3 degrees Celsius). “These data are still of an operational nature, we will verify them in the coming days,” added SHMÚ climatologist Katarína Mikulová.
