Lula approves the delegation that accompanied him on an official visit to Washington

Approval validates the participation of 5 ministers and 2 authorities in an agenda that dealt with investments and security

The president (PT) approved, this Monday (June 29, 2026), the delegation that accompanied him on an official visit to Washington, in the United States, held on the 6th and 7th of May. The decree was published in DOU (Official Gazette of the Union) and formalizes the participation of 5 ministers of State, the Brazilian ambassador to the USA and the director general of the Federal Police. Approval is an administrative procedure used to validate acts and expenses arising from international missions. With the publication, the government completes the accounting of the trip and consolidates the administrative and financial records of the mission.

Ministers and authorities in the delegation

Ministers Wellington César Lima e Silva (Justice and Public Security), Mauro Luiz Iecker Vieira (Foreign Affairs), Dario Carnevalli Durigan (Finance), Márcio Fernando Elias Rosa (Development, Industry, Commerce and Services) and Alexandre Silveira de Oliveira (Mines and Energy) participated in the mission.

The delegation also included the Brazilian ambassador to the United States, Maria Luiza Ribeiro Viotti, and the director general of the Federal Police, Andrei Augusto Passos Rodrigues. The decree records that the ambassador’s participation occurred at no additional cost to the Union.

The decree cites article 84 of the Federal Constitution, which gives the President of the Republic the authority to direct the federal administration. The act also makes reference to Decree-Law No. 1,565, of 1939, and Law No. 5,809, of 1972, which deal with the rules applicable to civil servants and military personnel serving the Union abroad.
