Meritxell is reborn

Sanctuary of Meritxell. Until December 31

This year, the Santuari de Meritxell – designed by Ricardo Bofill after the devastating fire of 1972 – turns half a century old, and celebrates with a photographic exhibition that links faith, architecture and community. As beloved as the sanctuary of Canillo is the legendary Ràdio Andorra, which comes back to life thanks to an immersive visit from the spectacular wave-making room of the historic building in Encamp.

A baroque palace in Valencia houses the contemporary art collection of Hortensia Herrero, philanthropist and vice president of Mercadona. Throughout his career, the photographer Josep Maria Planas (1924-2016) created and collected advertising materials that now allow us to trace the architecture of Majorcan leisure from the beginning of the 20th century until the tourist boom. Getting lost in the permanent exhibition of the photographer, who gives his name to this foundation located in Llucmajor (Mallorca), is the icing on the cake.
