PCC and CV: Tarcisio defends again classify factions as terrorists

In New York this Monday (12), the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), He returned to the classification of criminal factions – such as the first command of the capital (CCP) and Red Command (CV) – as terrorist organizations.

“I think we have to harden. Combating organized crime, we have to treat criminal groups, treat organized crime really as a terrorist group,” said the chief executive Paulista. “If you don’t increase the cost of crime, we diminish our chances of having effectiveness in this combat.”

The statement was made during the event dialogues sphere, which brings together leaders from the public and private sectors to discuss the transformations and challenges of Brazil.

Tarcisio also said he believed that change should not bring sanctions to Brazil.

“Ah, I don’t think so. I don’t think so. I just think we have to harden and that’s why I particularly defend it. I’ve already defended, I still defend. Take these criminal organizations and classify as a terrorist group,” he adds.

Last week, receiving representatives of the US government in Brasilia, technicians from the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) stated that for Brazil, factions such as Red Command (CV) and CCP cannot be classified by the country’s legislation as terrorist organizations, but as criminal.

National Secretary of Public Security, Mário Sarrubbo, said there is no “advantage” in changing Brazilian legislation and US position could be “harmful” to Brazil.

“It is a statement (that factions are terrorist) that would allow sanctions and everything else from the US government over Brazil. So, it is harmful to Brazil,” added Sarrubbo in an interview with CNN.

The governor of São Paulo had already mentioned the idea previously.

In an event with investors in the west of the state capital, Tarcisio proposed to classify organized crime as terrorism after the execution of a whistleblower of the First Capital Command (CCP) at Guarulhos Airport, the governor pointed out the measures he considers fundamental to combat organized crime.

Understand

In a meeting with technicians from the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) management, representatives of the Government Donald Trump cited two Brazilian factions – first command of the capital (CCP) and Red Command (CV) – in defending the classification of transnational criminal organizations as terrorists.

In the United States, the definition is broader and allows you to classify as terrorists groups linked to international trafficking and organized violence. In addition, the penal system is more rigorous in these cases.

Trump’s management has sought to frame Latin American criminal groups in activities that can be associated with terrorism, according to US legislation. This occurs, for example, with the Venezuelan Trench faction of Aragua.
