Qatar’s Al-Rayyan showed interest in hiring Jefferson Savarino from Botafogo. The Arab team started the first contacts and made a poll to understand the necessary conditions for a possible agreement.
According to journalist André Hernan, the movement in the market came from a direct request by Artur Jorge, coach of the Catari Club, who has worked with Savarino during a passage through Botafogo. The tendency is for the consultation to evolve to an official proposal soon, with an expectation of an advance in negotiations in the coming days.
Savarino, 28, is seen as an important piece to reinforce Al-Rayyan’s offensive sector, especially for the experience in South American football, as well as the field versatility.

Will Savarino leave Botafogo?
Al-Rayyan’s interest rekindles rumors about a possible change of negotiation of the Venezuelan, who is a frequent starter at Botafogo and has been a key piece in Davide Anchelotti’s scheme. The board has not yet positioned itself about the survey, but, according to Hernan, the scenes movement exists.
If a concrete proposal is presented, the tendency is for Lyon, as holding economic rights, evaluate the situation, along with Botafogo and the athlete himself. The French club can even profit from the transaction, even if the Venezuelan has not acted there.
Meanwhile, the player remains integrated with the alvinegro cast, but with the future open.
Almost Savarino’s trip to Lyon
After Botafogo’s classification over Bragantino, for the Brazilian Cup, on Wednesday (6), Savarino commented on a possible exit that was close to happening. According to the player, he almost hit with Olympique de Lyon in July, but chose to continue in the Rio club.
– Since the beginning of the year I had the proposal to leave, but I decided to stay at Botafogo. Then, in March, I had my renewal presented by Botafogo to be able to renew and in this presentation I had the opportunity to go to Lyon, but the decision was mid -year. So, since last month, July 15, I had to make the decision to go to Lyon and I decided to stay at Botafogo. It was a decision with my family, and now I’m here at Botafogo, I’m happy and whatever God wants, that’s the most important, ”he said.
The decision to stay at Glorioso was made even with Lyon having already acquired the player’s economic rights for 7.6 million euros in March. The business was made to facilitate future transfer to Europe, which was eventually postponed.
With this recent history, the new Middle East football poll can open another door for Savarino’s departure, but the negotiations are still initial.
