The Americup 2025 will be the 20th edition of the main men’s basketball championship of the Americas, organized by Fiba Americas. The tournament will be played for the first time in Managua, Nicaragua, between August 22 and 31, 2025.
This edition marks the return of competition to the traditional quadrennial achievement, after the postponement of the previous edition to 2022 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Three selections that will participate in Americup this year were present in every year of competition: Brazil, Argentina, Puerto Rico and Canada. The United States participated in just 12 of the 20 editions.

AMERICUP 2025 format and regulation
The qualifying phase involved 25 selections, including hostess Nicaragua, who participated only as preparation, as it had a guaranteed place. The qualification took place in two steps: first, a pre-qualification phase with teams absent from the previous edition, followed by the group stage.
In the main phase of the qualifiers, the selections were divided into four groups with four teams each. The top three selections in each group advanced to the final tournament. The qualifying games took place between February 2024 and February 2025.
In the main phase of Americup, the 12 classified countries are divided into three groups with four selections each. The top two in each group and the top two third places advance to the quarterfinals, then heading to semifinals and knockout format.
SELECTIONS CLASSIFIED FOR AMERICUP 2025
Among the 12 participating teams, 10 were in the previous edition. Nicaragua, as a host country, debuts in the competition, while the Bahamas have returned for the first time since 1995.

Headquarters and groups of the initial phase
All games will take place at Polydortivo Alexis Argüello, in Managua, the capital of Nicaragua. The group stage was defined in a draw held in March 2025, with the worldwide ranking of the FIBA being used to determine the jars of the draw.

AMERICUP 2025 final phase schedule
The elimination phase begins with the quarterfinals on August 28, with the classified selections being ranked from 1 to 8, according to the performance in the group stage.

- August 30 – Semifinals
- August 31 – dispute for 3rd place and end
The clashes will be defined according to the performance of the selections in the first phase, with the best ranks facing the worst.
