Adrilles Jorge (União Brasil) councilman said at a hearing in the City Council that the Route (Ostensive Rounds Tobias de Aguiar), the elite troop of the Military Police, does an “extraordinary” work of execution of bandits in the state of São Paulo.
“The route has done an excellent and extraordinary work in the capture and execution, when it should happen, of bad guys who are essentially harmful to society,” said the councilman on August 13 of the House Education Commission.
He pointed out that he does not deny the existence of bad police. “These are exceptions,” he says.
The statement generated reaction from the PT leader in the house, Luna Zarattini (), who shared video with the speech of his colleague and criticized the far right before the public safety guidelines and the governor of São Paulo (Republicans).
In a statement, Adrilles’s staff stated that his speech “mentions the ostensible work of Rota police officers and was captured in a fragmented way.”
“The councilman explains that when a bandit endangers the life of an ordinary citizen or a police officer, the public security agent has the discretionary power of eventually if he has no other resource, shooting the bandit.”
The parliamentarian added that “if an individual is killing, raping or torturing someone and the police officer in operation has no other appeal, it is necessary to act in self -defense of human life against the criminal.”
The discussion about the performance of the Military Police took place during a session of the Education, Culture and Sport Commission on Thursday (13), when members discussed a bill presented by Councilman Sargento Nantes (PP) that includes the day of the route in the calendar of events of the municipality.
