Harvard offers scholarships worth R$500,000 to journalists – 11/28/2024 – Novo em Folha

Brazilian journalists can apply for a scholarship at Harvard University, in . The initiative is a partnership between the Nieman Foundation for Journalism and the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society to promote innovation in business and .

Since 1938, the program has awarded scholarships to more than 1,500 journalists from almost one hundred countries. Annually, the organization awards paid scholarships to up to 12 journalists from outside the US. Candidates must be able to speak, read and write English fluently.

If approved, scholarship recipients receive $85,000 (around R$500,000) paid over a period of nine months to cover living costs. The results will be released in May 2025.

The organization also provides a health insurance supplement and a child care subsidy aimed at children ages 12 and under.

The scholarship is for the 2025-2026 academic year. Candidates must present proposals aimed at the digital transformation of journalism.

Applications must contain a CV, two essays, a summary of the study plan, portfolio and three letters of recommendation written in English. You can apply until December 1st through this
