The city of Vienna has to save in the budget in view of a billion -dollar deficit – and increase income. A new debt of 3.8 billion euros was forecast for this year alone. Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) then issued the motto that at least 500 million euros must be saved across all city department borders. So far, no numbers or details of the savings that have already been made at short notice are yet available.
