The Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI) published an ordinance with guidance on working hours on game days for the Brazilian Football Team at the 2026 World Cup.
The rules apply to public servants, public employees, temporary contractors e agency interns e federal public administration entities direct, autarchic and foundational.
Exceptionally, the bodies will be able to make working hours more flexible on match days. The authorization provides for the early departure of public agents, depending on the time of the game. According to Ordinance No. 4,779, hours not worked must be compensated between August 3 and September 30, 2026.
On days when games take place at 2pm, release can take place from 11am. For departures at 4pm, departure will be authorized from 1pm; at 5pm, from 2pm; at 6pm, from 3pm and at 7pm, from 4pm, always Brasília time.
In games scheduled for 9:30 pm, servers whose work ends after this time will be able to leave at 6:30 pm.
For departures at 10pm, release will be from 7pm for those traveling beyond this time.
For those who work in person outside of the Management Program, compensation of hours will occur with anticipation or extension of the daily journey. Program participants, whether in person or teleworking, must fully comply with the deliverables provided for in their work plans.
If compensation is not made, there will be a proportional discount on the remuneration. The compensation limit is up to two hours per day for civil servants, public employees and temporary workers, and one hour per day for interns.
The ordinance also determines that the bodies continue to operate during the games, if the server prefers to maintain normal business hours. Leaders must also ensure the continuity of essential services.
