Selton Mello lookalike competition has an unusual winner; look

This Sunday afternoon (1st), a street cinema in Rio de Janeiro was the stage for the Selton Mello lookalike contesta competition to choose the person most similar to the actor from “I’m Still Here”. The result, however, was a little unusual: Ramon won the contest, becoming “Selton Mello’s first black lookalike”as he calls himself.

The young man won the affection of the fans present at Estação NET de Cinema, in the Botafogo neighborhood, campaigning for his candidacy. Between Friday (29) and Saturday (30), Ramon published several videos asking for votes from those who would be present at the event.

“If you can, vote for me. Why does it have to be white only? Vote for me for the first black Selton Mello, in favor of inclusion and diversity”, asked Ramon in a video published on his TikTok that went viral on social media. The young man posted several humorous videos on his profile, asking for votes in several different neighborhoods in Rio de Janeiro.

The campaign worked: in the middle of a crowded lobby, Ramon was voted by the public as the best Selton Mello lookalike — if you prefer, “Selton Caramelo” or “Selton Melanina”nicknames that he himself acquired.

In addition to winning five tickets to watch any film at the establishment, the young man also took home a prize blender (in reference to Selton Mello’s role in the film “Reflections of a Blender”).

On TikTok, he thanked “everyone who supported this pataquada” and published a video with his best moments in the contest.

The fashion for lookalike contests

Although the lookalike contest may seem unusual at first glance, the search for the perfect lookalike has gone viral on social media.

It all started with actor Timothée Chalamet. In October, hundreds of spectators turned out at Washington Square Park in the US to watch more than a dozen brown-haired 20-somethings compete for the title. The event, organized by YouTuber Anthony Po, ended with some arrests, a US$500 fine and an appearance by the Oscar-nominated actor himself.

Then things escalated quickly: the actor has already inspired two different contests, in Ireland and the United Kingdom; Harry Styles, Dev Patel, Zayn Malik and Jeremy Allen White have also been the subject of competitions.
