Slovakia is waiting intensively: in these areas the second stage warning applies!

In most of Slovakia, it is possible to expect intensive rainfall during Wednesday and Thursday (10 and 11 9th). The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMI) issued a warning against rain, and the part of the territory will pay its increased, second stage.

The warning is valid from Wednesday’s noon to Thursday morning (6.00 h) for the whole western and central Slovakia, with the exception of part of Kysuce and Orava. For the districts of Bratislava, Trnava, Trenčín, Banská Bystrica and part of the Nitra, Žilina and Košice regions, the increased second level warning will apply. “Occasionally, we expect the occurrence of intensive rain with an total rainfall of more than 50 mm. The part of the rainfall may fall during storms,” Meteorologists warned in this context.

During Thursday, rainfall activity is to be increasingly manifested in Eastern Slovakia. In addition to rainfall, SHMI also pointed out strong winds in alpine positions, where from Wednesday evening to Thursday morning the wind can reach a speed of 110 – 135 km/h. Meteorologists issued a warning for the districts of Tvrdošín, Liptovský Mikuláš, Poprad and Brezno.
