The so-called EU High-Level Group on Data Access for Effective Law Enforcement (HLG) has presented its final report after a year and a half of work. The focus of the paper is “lawful” access to data from messenger services such as Signal or Telegram. However, the expert group’s demands have already been subject to harsh criticism from data protection advocates in the past.
