Regardless of whether we choose spruce, fir or pine, at a Christmas tree stand you need to pay attention to the condition of the tree. Before we decide to buy, check whether the needles are green enough, whether they do not fall off and whether they are not yellowish at the ends.
A live Christmas tree that smells of the forest and will stand the longest. We check which one to choose to enjoy its beauty even after the holidays
If we are considering buying a live Christmas tree and we want it to not lose needles, let’s choose a silver fir, also known as a white fir. Its needles are more delicate than those of spruce, they are dark green in color and much more delicate. And most importantly, they stay on the tree for a long time. They do not fall off the Christmas tree, even when they dry out. Caucasian fir will also work well for Christmas decorations. It has intense green needles with a white coating on the bottom, and it can survive indoors for up to a month. One of the most popular Christmas trees is spruce, both the common spruce (Picea abies) and the prickly/silver spruce (Picea pungens). However, both of them quickly lose their needles. The common one lasts about two weeks indoors, the silver one a little longer. Both varieties are valued for their intense, resinous forest scent. Therefore, if we value smell more than durability, it is worth choosing spruces. However, if durability is important, choose fir. It doesn’t smell as intense, but it will last longer. Pine is also becoming more and more popular in Poland. A native species that smells beautifully of the forest and works well in minimalist interiors. A Christmas tree with long needles looks best when decorated only with lights. It is quite durable, but looks best two weeks after cutting.
