Russian actress Kamilla Belyatskaya died at the age of 24 after being swept into the sea by a gigantic wave, on Friday (29), on the island of Koh Samui, Thailand.
Belyatskaya was doing yoga when she was surprised by the wave and carried into the water. The actress’s body was only located by Thai security and rescue agents last weekend, according to press reports in the Asian country.
Images recorded by people who were close to the scene show the moment the Russian woman was hit by the wave. The artist appears sitting on a rock, while doing a yoga pose with a mat and, suddenly, the water sweeps her away.
Kamilla used to frequent the island of Koh Samui. According to the British press, the actress described the place as “the best on earth”. After what happened with the Russian artist, Chaiyaporn Subprasert, head of the Samui Rescue Center, declared that there are warnings spread across the island to guide tourists about risk areas, where entering the sea is prohibited.
The area Belyatskaya was in when she was dragged was a gazebo. Meanwhile, Subprasert highlighted that the size and strength of the wave may have surprised the young woman, who was from Novosibirsk, Russia’s third largest city.
