BNDES President says no company affected by US tariffs will be behind

The bank will operate R $ 40 billion in credit; Aloizio Mercadante also commented on the installation of the Commission in the National Congress for the processing of the Provisional Measure (MP) of the Brazil Sovereign Plan

The president of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (), reaffirmed on Tuesday (23) that the government will support Brazilian companies affected by the tariffs of the. “No company impacted by tariffs will be left behind. We have already approved R $ 1.5 billion in credit with funds from“, commented to journalists on the way out of the “Law, Democracy and Credit: building sustainable and equitable development”, held at the Banco headquarters. In three days, the bank performed 106 operations on the working capital line.

BNDES will operate R $ 40 billion in credit: R $ 30 billion from the export guarantee fund (CGE) and R $ 10 billion its own resources. Asked if the value is sufficient, Mercadante recalled that, according to the resolution approved by the National Monetary Council () on Friday, access to FGE companies of all sizes that were harmed by the 50% rate and whose gross revenue with exports to the United States represents at least 5% of the total found between July 2024 and June 2025.

Used again if the R $ 30 billion made available by the FGE is enough, the BNDES president emphasized the need to maintain dialogue to overcome the difficulties of the exporting sector affected by tariff measures imposed by the United States government.

“I hope the difficulties will be overcome in the dialogue that was opened today at the president’s initiative. There is a great effort in Brazil that, with unilateral imposed tariffs and without any economic rationality criterion, mitigating this impact and contributing to these companies to recover,” said Mercadante.

Commission Installation

The president of BNDES also commented on the installation of the Commission in the National Congress for the process of (MP) of the Brazil Sovereign Plan. “We are quite optimistic about support and approval. Our priority is sovereign Brazil and Congress, surely, will support all companies that have been impacted,” said Mercadante.

Under the Brazil Sovereign Plan, resources will be funded for working capital and investments in adapting productive activity, acquisition of machinery and equipment and search for new markets.

Opportunity for Brazil

Mercadante reiterated that the episode of tariff measures imposed by the United States government will become “an opportunity” for Brazil. “Apexbrasil has done a very important work of strategic intelligence, mapping all the spaces where we can replace US exports. We will both invite American entrepreneurs, who are importers, to try to reptmount and seek these new mapped markets,” said the BNDES president.
