Last day of the UN General Assembly in the United States has a meeting on the fight against extremism
The President (PT) commands this Wednesday (24.Set.2025), from 11am (Brasília) in, the 2nd edition of the event “In Defense of Democracy”, at the 80th UN General Assembly (United Nations).
In addition to Lula, the presidents of Chile, Gabriel Boric, Spain, Pedro Sánchez, Uruguay, Yamandú Orsi, and Colombia, Gustavo Petro, in defense of democracy and the fight against extremism. Unlike 2024, the US was not invited.

One of the meeting’s flags will be the strengthening of multilateral organisms, such as the UN itself and its Security Council.
Similar meeting was held in 2024, also under the leadership of Brazil and Spain. According to Itamaraty, 30 nations confirmed presence.
