The situation generated immediate reaction from the White House, with spokesman Karoline Leavitt to state that if the ladder was shown, the responsible employee should be dismissed and investigated.
If someone at the UN intentionally stopped the escalator as the President and First Lady were stepping on, they need to be fired and investigated immediately.

According to reports, some UN employees would have played with the possibility of stopping the ladder when Trump arrived, claiming that this would show that the organization would be out of money. During the event, the president also complained about the teleponto that did not work, causing laughter among the world leaders present.
Trump commented in a mood on the situation, stressing that if Melania were not in good physical form, she could have fallen, and added that both were in great form to face the unforeseen event. The episode quickly gained prominence on social networks, mixing politics, international protocol and caricature moments.
