Play Airlines has announced a special campaign to mark World Tourism Day, intended for all who dream of seeing one of the most dazzling natural phenomena on the planet – the boreal auroras.
Between September 26 and October 3, the Islande Low-Cost airline offers “30% off flights selected for Iceland from Lisbon, Porto, Faro or Madeira airports”, with travel between October 1 and March 31, 2026, considered the best time of year to see the celebrated dancing lights in the North sky.
Boreal auroras are known to illuminate Icelandic skies in green, violet and pink, creating a unique spectacle that attracts travelers from around the world. Play Airlines points out that “this year, the experience promises to be even more intense, as we are in the full ‘solar maximum’, a cycle that occurs every 11 years and translates into greater solar activity, increasing both frequency and golden brightness”.
According to the carrier, Iceland’s privileged location makes the country “one of the best places in the world to observe this phenomenon.” Far from the luminous pollution of large cities, travelers can witness the show at various parts of the island, from the golden circle to the northern fjords. The company considers that this campaign can be “the perfect opportunity to take the first step towards the realization of a dream.”
The promotion is valid only for new online reservations on the round trip specified in or. The discount is applied only on the air fare (not including taxes, fees and additional services) and is subject to the availability of places.
