Slovakia must be ready to respond to current security threats by strengthening the defenses and modernizing its armed forces. At the celebrations of the Day of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic in Brezová pod Bradlom, it was said on Sunday by the President and Chief Commander of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic (OS) of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini.
In his speech, the President stressed that At present, it is necessary to protect values again, which stands not only by the Slovak Republic, but the whole democratic community. “We are living in a distorted security atmosphere when threats go beyond the boundaries and change the form. The sovereignty of states is repeatedly disrupted, especially on the eastern NATO border, either in the form of air space, but also in other ways, including disinformation campaigns and cyber attacks,” Pellegrini said.
In his words, it is therefore necessary to build modern and strong armed forces, which will be a combination of prepared and proficient members, modern technology, human capital and capable command. “Every investment in education, training, infrastructure, but also in technology is reflected in the ability of the armed forces to respond quickly and effectively to the challenges of the 21st century,” said the president.
At the same time he appreciated the high professionalism of members of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic. “With their courage and readiness to defend our country for 32 years, it has been supported for all our citizens for 32 years. I especially thank those who serve in peacekeeping missions or operations.
On the occasion of the day of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic, Pellegrini handed over the thank you medals of the President of the Slovak Republic to the ground forces of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic and the National Defense Forces. From the hands of the Head of State, the Medal also took over the excess Igor Hungarian from 46. from the threat and also in the operation of the NEO Israel international crisis management.
The Day of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic is commemorated annually on 22 September, on the day of the anniversary of the victory of Slovak volunteers under the command of Ján Francisci in a battle over the units of the imperial army in 1848 in Brezová pod Bradlom. “Here, the Slovaks for the first time applied for their rights.
