The president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) said on Thursday (2) that he sent invitations to international leaders Donald Trump (USA), Xi Jinping (China) and Javier Milei (Argentina) to participate in the COP30 (30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change), which will take place in Belém, Pará.
“I sent a letter to President Trump, Xi Jinping and Milei, because here we have no prejudice, come who you want, because we want to be the world example of climate defense.”
To date, 79 countries have officially confirmed presence at the event, which should gather more than 40,000 people, including heads of state, ministers, experts and civil society representatives.
The US leader had already reported that he would not come to the event, but President Lula pointed out that the official invitation reaffirms Brazil’s commitment to dialogue with all nations.
