Navy soldiers accused of violating state secrets begin to be tried

This Wednesday, trials began on thes three Navy soldiers accused of violating state secrets for allegedly disclosing confidential information about the ship Mondego.

The presence of a military judge in the group of judges without legal training, and still in uniform during the session, generated objections from defense lawyers.

They wanted the sea and war captain removed, but the request was denied.

Navy opened disciplinary proceedings

Of the thirteen soldiers, three are now accused of violating state secrets, for allegedly disclosing confidential information about the ship.

At the time, the Navy opened disciplinary proceedings and applied sanctions.

They were later annulled by the Supreme Administrative Court, which identified flaws and irregularities in the process.

About a month ago, the Navy reopened the cases and is now reevaluating the entire case in order to correct the errors highlighted by the courts.
