PT MP is still detained in Israel; Advisory wants “immediate” release

The staff of Deputy Luizianne Lins (PT-CE) issued a note on Saturday (4), stating that the parliamentarian is still detained in the prison of Ketziot, after the flotilla where he was was intercepted by the Israeli government.

“At the moment, the reports received by legal representatives that part of the group would be deprived of water, food and medicines, in violation of international human rights and humanitarian law that protects civil missions and humanitarian aid,” they say.

According to the note, Luizianne chose not to sign an alleged “accelerated deportation document” that would have been offered by the Israeli authorities.

“The parliamentarian considered the document abusive and that, for her career in defense of human rights, understood that her responsibility went beyond her own situation – being in solidarity and unity with the other members of the Brazilian delegation who did not signed the document,” they say.

The Brazilian delegation is made up of 15 people in total. This Saturday, the organization of the initiative, Global Sumud Flotilha, but there is no more information about its return to Brazil.

In the note, the deputy’s advisory requires that the Israeli government “immediately releases Brazilians and Brazilians illegally detained”.

The flotilla sought to break the Israeli block using vessels that departed from ports across the Mediterranean Sea. Among the members of the flotilha was the climate activist Greta Thunberg.
