Civil Defense rescue teams from reported this Friday (10) that 55 bodies were found under the rubble after the withdrawal of Israeli troops and the beginning of the ceasefire between and the . The truce was announced by the Israeli Army in the morning and marks the beginning of the implementation of the peace agreement mediated by the .

According to Mohamed al Mughayir, a member of the Civil Defense who operates under the authority of Hamas, the bodies were located in different areas of the Gaza Strip, although it was not known when or how the victims died.

The director of Al Shifa Hospital, Mohamed Abu Salmiya, told AFP that 33 of the bodies were taken to health facilities in Gaza City, which has been the target of intense bombing in recent weeks. He added that one of the victims was killed this Friday, hit by Israeli fire in the north of the city. The Israeli Army confirmed that its forces had ceased fire and began repositioning themselves along “withdrawal lines” in preparation for the return of Israeli hostages held in Gaza.

The ceasefire activates a 72-hour deadline for Hamas to release the remaining hostages, in accordance with the 20-point peace plan proposed by United States President Donald Trump. With the truce, Civil Defense reported that Israeli troops and armored vehicles left advanced positions in Gaza City and Khan Yunis, in the south of the territory. After two years of devastating war, thousands of displaced Palestinians began to return to their homes, many of which were completely destroyed. “We are tired, but the most important thing is that the war is over,” said Akram Al Sahhar, 50, who walked for hours with his children to return to Gaza City.
