US authorities have revealed a series of unusual events related to ongoing investigations into a mysterious accident that occurred in the Nevada desert last month, near the restricted-access US air base known as Area 51.
On September 23, 2025, it was a non-fatal accident involving a aircraft northeast of Las Vegasin the immediate vicinity of the famous high security facility.
The episode led the North American Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) to issue a temporary flight restriction (TFR) that covered an area five nautical miles (about 9 km) east of the secret base.
The FAA indicated that the restriction was due to “national security reasons”, and the crash site was later cordoned off by United States Air Force officials.
“There were no fatalitiesinjuries or material damage”, reads a statement from the Public Affairs office of the 432nd Air Expeditionary Wing of the US Air Force, sent to in response to questions asked on September 30.
“The incident is under investigation”, added the statement, highlighting that, at the time, no further information was available.
Everything changed last weekendwhen the 432nd Wing issued a new press release, the first official update in several days, that included a number of unexpected and intriguing developments.
“During a further inspection of the site on October 3, investigators discovered signs of tampering in the area of the accident”, said the statement of October 4, “including the presence of an inert body and an aircraft panel of unknown originboth placed in place after the incident.”

The aircraft involved in the incident has not been officially identifiedalthough it is believed to be a unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)according to , which has been following news and discussions related to Area 51 and secret US government projects for decades.
