Marco Almeida

Marco Almeida, Menezes, then Pedro Duarte – everyone sang victory on an “orange” night that started with many uncertainties.

In the first projections of the night, in the 2025 local elections, several technical draws marked most of the large municipalities.

The first tiebreaker came when Luís Filipe Menezes celebrated the Vila Nova de Gaia. And it is close to an absolute majority.

“I’m very happy, very happy”, said Luís Filipe Menezes upon arrival at a restaurant in Francelos, in Vila Nova de Gaia, where his candidacy’s delegation is meeting tonight and before being “swallowed” by supporters who began shouting “president, president”.

Menezes, back at the municipality 12 years later, promised “a lot of work and a leadership that will seek to bring the same progress as before. A leadership that will lead for everyone, for those who voted for us and obviously for those who didn’t vote for us. But it won’t be clear to show the people of Gaienses clearly the picture of the last 12 years with audits of all areas of the Municipality”, he said, at a time when the data is not yet known. officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Sintra

In another Chamber with a tie at the beginning of the night, Sintra, Marco Almeida assumed victory in the local elections, ahead of the PS/Livre candidate, Ana Mendes Godinho.

In the current term, the executive is led by the PS, by Basílio Horta. But the head of the PSD/IL/PAN list at the Sintra Chamber declared victory in Sintra: “An end has been put to 12 years of the PS”

“I believe that these will be years of requalification for the municipality. The people of Sintra will once again be proud to be from Sintra”, stated Marco Almeida.

Marco Almeida thanked his supporters, in particular Fernando Seara, former president of the Sintra City Council and now a candidate for the Municipal Assembly.

Braga

The Coalition Together for Braga (PSD/CDS-PP/PPM) won the local elections held on Sunday, the candidate assumed João Rodrigues, who, in his victory speech, said he welcomed it with humility and responsibility.

“A victory is a victory, but we receive this victory with humility”, said João Rodrigues, in his speech, in a room of a hotel in the city, in front of dozens of supporters who shouted “victory” as soon as the candidate entered the room.

“Due to the size of Braga, we received this victory with enormous responsibility. This victory was recognition of the work of recent years and of our electoral campaign, noble and complete, despite the difficulties of the last year. I will not list the moments, everyone knows them”, declared João Rodrigues.

Braga also started the night with an unpredictable outcome, with victory potentially going to the right-wing coalition or the PS.

Lisboa e Porto they also closed with victories for coalitions led by the PSD: Carlos Moedas in the capital, Pedro Duarte in Porto.
