Businessman denies relationship with company linked to delegate; Civil Police investigate the actions of the police officer mentioned by Eli Cohen
Businessman Maurício Camisotti told the Poder360 who never tried to corrupt authorities. The statement was in response to audio, obtained by Poder360in which lawyer Eli Cohen, pivot of the CPMI of the INSS (National Institute of Social Security) says that delegate Roberto Monteiro would “hits” for the entrepreneur.
Camisotti also said that he has no relationship with the company SPS Manager Administradora e Corretora de Seguros Ltda, which belongs to Camisotti’s wife, Giovanna Santos Monteiro de Andrade. Furthermore, he denied having participated in the illegal embezzlement of pensions.
Here is the full note sent to the reporter:
“Businessman Maurício Camisotti clarifies that neither he, nor any of his companies, maintained or maintain any contractual relationship with SPS Manager Administradora e Corretora de Seguros Ltda.
Camisotti also reiterates that he never tried to corrupt authorities, nor did he ever participate in any irregularity or fraud involving the INSS”.
The clarification comes after recordings in which Eli Cohen, the pivot of the investigations, stated that he spared delegate Roberto Monteiro, from the São Paulo Civil Police, in his statement to the CPMI of the INSS. According to Cohen, Monteiro “solved” Camisotti’s problems and intermediated payments totaling R$7 million, supposedly to ensure silence about the case. The amount, according to Cohen, would have been pocketed by Danilo Trento, the businessman’s former partner.
When contacted, Eli Cohen did not respond to interview requests. Roberto Monteiro was also contacted on 3 different numbers, provided by people close to or present in his company’s membership, at the Federal Revenue Service, but he did not return the contacts. The space remains open for future demonstrations.
The General Inspectorate of the Civil Police, responsible for investigating Monteiro’s conduct, informed the reporter:
“The Civil Police General Inspectorate informs that it has already initiated an administrative disciplinary procedure to rigorously investigate the aforementioned complaints. The Institution reaffirms its commitment to legality, ethics and transparency, and emphasizes that all conduct incompatible with the principles of police activity are duly investigated and punished, in accordance with current legislation. The Internal Affairs Department remains available to collaborate with the competent bodies.”
