Vienna – The KPÖ elected Tobias Schweiger as the sole federal spokesman at its party conference on Sunday in Vienna. So far, the top candidate in the National Council election has been part of a six-person federal spokesperson team. At his side, Günther Hopfgartner was confirmed as federal chairman; he will continue to represent the party internally, Schweiger externally. What is new is that the communists appeared united at the party conference in Vienna: the Styrian KPÖ took part again for the first time since 2004.
