Acre appears among the three states in the country with the highest percentage of Individual Microentrepreneurs (MEIs) registered in the Federal Government’s Single Registry for Social Programs, according to a survey released by Sebrae and the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Fight Against Hunger (MDS). In the state, 54.8% of registered MEIs started entrepreneurship after entering the system.

The study shows that more and more families in vulnerable situations have sought entrepreneurship as an alternative source of income. Across the country, 2.5 million people, 55% of MEIs in the Single Registry, decided to open a small business after being included in the registry.

Minister Wellington Dias highlighted that the measure does not imply loss of social benefits. According to the Bolsa Família Protection Rule, those who improve their income can continue receiving half the benefit value for up to 12 months, ensuring a safe transition. “These people are formalizing their businesses and, at the same time, remaining protected,” he said.

Acre stands out along with Amazonas and Piauí, all with over 54% of formal entrepreneurs linked to the Single Registry. The majority work in the services sector, followed by commerce and construction. According to Sebrae, the technical support offered to the population has contributed to keeping 78.9% of companies active, well above the national average.

The partnership between MDS and Sebrae, signed in 2023, aims to strengthen productive inclusion and the development of small businesses among vulnerable families. Through the exchange of information and training, the objective is to transform entrepreneurship into a sustainable path to generating income and autonomy in Acre and throughout the country.
