Moraes authorizes Mauro Cid to attend his grandmother’s birthday

The minister of the Federal Supreme Court (), authorized, a former aide-de-camp, to attend his grandmother’s 90th birthday, scheduled for November 1st. Although Cid is free, the minister’s authorization was necessary because the soldier is under electronic ankle bracelet monitoring. Moraes also determined that the Federal District Penitentiary Administration Secretariat must forward a report on Mauro Cid’s electronic monitoring within 48 hours after his displacement. Earlier, in addition to the request for authorization, Cid’s defense also asked the minister to end the punishment.

The statement was sent to the Supreme Court after the publication of the trial ruling that condemned the former assistant, the former president of Jair Bolsonaro and other defendants from Core 1 of the coup plot. Defenses have five days to present appeals. The deadline ends next Monday (27). According to lawyer Cesar Bittencourt, Cid has already served two years in prison during the investigations and should have his punishment terminated due to the plea agreement.

On September 11, by 4 votes to 1, the First Panel of the STF convicted Bolsonaro, Cid and six other defendants for the crimes of armed criminal organization, attempted violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law, coup d’état, qualified damage due to violence and serious threat and deterioration of listed property.
