American President Donald Trump confirmed this Saturday (25) that he will meet President Lula in Malaysia. But he said the reduction in import tariffs depends on the “right circumstances”. The meeting is expected to take place this Sunday (26), on an agenda parallel to the Asean (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Summit.
The confirmation occurred while Trump spoke to journalists on AirForce 1, heading to Malaysia.
Before Trump’s statement, neither the White House nor the Brazilian government had confirmed the meeting.
The expectation is that Lula and Donald Trump will talk about the 50% tariff on Brazilian products and also about the sanctions imposed on Brazilian authorities, such as ministers of the Federal Supreme Court and public servants linked to the Mais Médicos program.
