“Head held high is more important than a Nobel Prize”, says Lula in Malaysia

One day before the meeting with American President Donald Trump, President Lula reinforced his position against the protectionist measures adopted by the White House and criticized the Republican’s quest for a Nobel Peace Prize.

“For a ruler, holding his head high is more important than a Nobel Prize,” said Lula in a joint statement with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

In his speech, Lula also highlighted the possibilities of bilateral cooperation with the Asian country and Brazil. But he focused most of his speech on geopolitical issues, such as the war in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip.

The President of the Republic once again treated the operation of the Israel Defense Forces in the Palestinian enclave as “genocide”. Same classification used by Ibrahim minutes before.

The press conference took place minutes before American President Donald Trump confirmed the meeting with Lula.

Aboard AirForce 1, the Republican said that a 50% tariff relief on Brazilian products depends on “the right conditions”.
