Neymar and his father are angry with columnist about non-renewal with Santos: “Bunch of idiots”

Neymar e pai se revoltam com colunista sobre não-renovação com o Santos: "Bando de idiotas" image

Neymar and the player’s father expressed anger on social media after a column in the newspaper O Globo stated that Santos would not be interested in renewing the athlete’s contract, with a contract until December 31, 2025.

The publication, signed by columnist Lauro Jardim, also mentioned a possible new negotiation for the player to remain in Vila Belmiro for another six months, until the 2026 World Cup.

Neymar Sr. classified the information as “a lie” and accused the vehicle of spreading fake news. “In my opinion, this is not a ‘columnist’, but someone who has no commitment to the truth. And still uses my name. Once again we have to go public and deny a piece of news. This time the newspaper O Globo, through one of its columnists, endorses such a false fact. Shameful”, he wrote, with an image of the column and the “fake news” stamp.

In the same post, Neymar commented, calling those responsible for the article a “bunch of idiots”.

Will Neymar renew with Santos?

In a recent interview, Santos president Marcelo Teixeira stated that it is “too early” to start any conversation about renewing Neymar’s contract.

The player’s presence at Santos has been surrounded by expectation since his return, which marked the rapprochement between the idol and the club where he began his career. Even so, contractual issues and Peixe’s sporting moment have made it difficult to advance discussions about the athlete’s future.

Behind the scenes, there is an understanding that the immediate focus is to ensure the team’s permanence in Series A, leaving long-term negotiations in the background.

At the moment, Neymar continues to recover from an injury to the rectus femoris muscle of his right thigh, acquired in September. Since then, Peixe’s number 10 has been away from the field. The expectation is that he will return on November 9th, to face Flamengo in the Brazilian Championship.

Santos focuses on remaining in Series A

In addition to the off-field controversies, Santos faces a complicated scenario in the Brazilian Championship. The team occupies 16th place in the table, with 32 points, just one more than Vitória, the first team within the relegation zone. In the last round, the São Paulo team drew 2-2 with Botafogo.
