The leader of the Republicans in the US Senate, John Thune, made a statement after speaking with Trump
The leader of the Republicans in the US Senate, John Thune, said that he spoke with the president of the United States, on the night of Monday, 27, and that he stated that he wants a meeting with the Democrats next week, conditioning the meeting on the reopening of government operations.
In a statement retransmitted on his page on X, the Senate majority leader also stated that the solution to the shutdown is the same as always: we need five more Democratic senators to vote to reopen the government.
“Or they could force families to go without food, the travel situation would get much worse and millions of Americans would suffer the consequences,” he noted in X.
