The PT revived the defense of the creation of the Ministry of Public Security, a measure that was included in the program, but was never adopted.
“Announcing the Ministry of Security is the structuring response to this massacre, to establish national guidelines that the 26 states and the Federal District should follow. It is past time to create, following what was in the Lula-Alckmin ticket’s program”, says sociologist Benedito Mariano, who was the coordinator of the security area in the campaign.
The topic should be addressed in a security seminar that the PT intends to promote in December.
The idea of creating a specific portfolio for the area has broad support within the party, but was resisted by other sectors of the Lula government, who understand that it is not possible to separate the issue from the issue of justice.
