Statue runs through Naples in honor of Maradona – 10/30/2025 – Sport

A car painted in Napoli’s characteristic sky blue color traveled through the streets of Naples this Thursday (30) carrying a statue of Diego Maradona, who died in 2020. It was a celebration of the 65th anniversary of the star’s birth.

The Argentine, who etched his name into Napoli’s history by guiding them to the Serie A title in 1987 and 1990, is widely considered one of the greatest football players of all time.

The statue was taken from the Maradona Museum for a one-day “tour” of the city.

“Diego is not dead. His body is dead, but his soul lives within us Neapolitans, within all the people who love him. I have been celebrating Diego’s birthday for years. Diego is always present. And the most beautiful thing is that Diego belongs to the people,” said Massimo Vignati, owner of the Maradona Museum.

Napoli fans who enjoyed the image remembered Maradona’s influence on the lives of Italians. “He is unity. He brought people together, even those from the north who were against us. Thanks to Diego, people who are not from Naples also came closer,” said a city resident.
