Dominican Republic: A boat carrying 650 packages of cocaine was detected

The US president said on Tuesday there was no more drug trafficking in the Caribbean after ordering warships and fighter jets to deploy to the area in August. “The drug ships are no longer coming,” he assured.

The US has carried out airstrikes in the Caribbean and the Pacific against ships it believes belong to drug cartels. In total, the US government cited 15 attacks that killed 62 people. He did not, however, present any evidence of the connection of these people to the drug trade.

The vessel spotted by the Dominican Republic and “coming from South America” ​​was intercepted in Bani, the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) said, without specifying its exact origin or the quantity of cocaine. Two citizens of the Dominican Republic were arrested.

The DNCD stressed that “the blow it dealt to criminal structures” reaffirms its commitment not to allow “national and international networks” to use the country’s territorial waters for their smuggling.
