Two traffic accidents in the Nitra region claimed a total of three lives in the past hours. In the first accident, which happened on Friday (October 31) evening at the exit from Komárno towards Nová Stráž, a pedestrian died. A car accident on the road behind Šaľa towards the village of Vlčany claimed the lives of two young people early on Saturday morning. This was reported by the spokeswoman of the Regional Directorate of the Police Force in Nitra, Viktória Borloková.
A fifty-three-year-old driver hit a pedestrian who was sitting on the road on Friday evening at the exit from Komárno. “The driver was unable to prevent the collision, and the 60-year-old pedestrian, unfortunately, suffered injuries from which he died on the spot. The driver of the vehicle was subjected to a breath test for alcohol with a negative result,” the spokeswoman added. All emergency services intervened on Saturday in a traffic accident that happened near Šala. “The driver went off the road for reasons that have not yet been determined exactly, while the car probably overturned several times and then stopped,” she pointed out.
In this traffic accident, two 18-year-olds suffered non-life-threatening injuries. “A 19-year-old woman suffered injuries that took her to hospital. The operations officer also sent a post-traumatic stress team to the scene,” clarified the spokeswoman. The circumstances, the degree of fault and the exact cause of both traffic accidents are the subject of further police investigation.
