The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, was a victim of sexual harassment on Tuesday (4), during a walk in the center of Mexico City. A man identified as Uriel Rivera approached the president from behind, touched her private parts and tried to kiss her neck.
The episode occurred when Sheinbaum was greeting supporters and taking photos on the way to a public event near the presidential palace. Images of the moment, which circulated on social media, show the man placing one arm on the president’s shoulder and the other on her waist and chest.
After the attack, a security agent intervened and removed the attacker, who appeared to be drunk or under the influence of drugs. Even so, Sheinbaum remained calm, took a photo with the man and continued on his way.

The Women’s Secretariat confirmed that the suspect was arrested and sent to the Prosecutor’s Office responsible for sexual crimes. The office holder, Citlali Hernández, condemned the episode on social media.
“We repudiate the act that our president experienced today,” wrote Hernández in X, criticizing the “macho view” and the normalization of invasion of women’s bodies.
Sheinbaum’s office has not yet officially commented on the case.
