Several parishes in seven municipalities will be without electricity on Sunday

Here comes a new blackout – this time, purposeful and shorter. Some parishes in Faro, Lagos, Olhão, Lisbon, Oeiras, Sintra and Tomar will be without electricity for some periods on Sunday morning, between 5am and 11am.

At stake are works on the distribution network, operator E-Redes reported this Thursday.

In a note published on the website, E-Redes detailed that these are “programmed interruptions, previously scheduled”, between 5am and 11am on Sundaywith the aim of “guaranteeing the quality and reliability of the electrical service”.

The affected municipalities will be Lisbon, Oeiras, Sintra, Tomar, Faro, Lagos and Olhão.

“Maintaining the continuity and quality of the electricity supply is E-Redes’ priority. To this end, we carry out localized work on the distribution network, making it necessary to occasionally interrupt the electricity supply to customers”, explains the note.

In the case of Lisbon, the parish of Campolideon Avenida Conselheiro Fernando de Sousa and Rua Professor Sousa da Câmara, with the cut-off scheduled to take place between 5am and 11am.

In Oeiras, the interruption of electricity supply will take place in the Union of Parishes of Algés, Linda-a-Velha and Cruz Quebrada/Dafundo between 7am and 11am.

Further up, in the municipality of Sintra, the work will affect the Union of Parishes of São João das Lampas and Terrugem between 6am and 11am, while in Tomar the parishes of Saint John the Baptist and Saint Mary of Olivaiseven and 6h.

In the Algarve, cuts are planned in the parishes of Montenegro (Faro), Quelfes (Olhão) and São Gonçalo de Lagos (Lagos), entre as 7h e as 11h.

“During these interruptions, maneuvers, connection work, repair or conservation of network infrastructures are carried out, whenever all possibilities of alternative power supply from existing installations are exhausted”, indicates E-Redes. According to the operator, “these interruptions also serve to correct situations that may cause insecurity in the electrical network and/or prevent breakdowns”.
