Chamber session begins, but is then suspended for analysis of vetoes to the LDO

The session of the Rio Branco City Council, held this Tuesday morning (11), began, but was suspended shortly afterwards so that the councilors could meet at the Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ) and analyze the more than 60 vetoes by the Executive to the Budget Guidelines Law (LDO) of 2026.

According to the president of the CCJ, councilor Aiache (PP), all 64 amendments presented by parliamentarians were vetoed by mayor Tião Bocalom. The commissions are now meeting to discuss each point individually, with the aim of clearing the agenda for other planned votes.

“Today we are going to analyze within the committees, mainly in the Constitution and Justice Committee, so that we can vote on the amendments to the LDO and unlock the agendas of other matters that are to come, such as the PPA, the Master Plan and the LOA”, explained Aiache.

The councilor highlighted that the process must be long and detailed, as vetoes will be evaluated one by one. “We spoke with the Executive, who presented a new proposal. Now we will analyze veto by veto and, leaving the committee meetings, the agenda should go to a plenary vote today”, he stated.

The vote on the LDO is considered essential for the progress of work in the Chamber, as other budgetary matters depend on the approval of this law to move forward. After analyzing the vetoes, councilors must return to the plenary session to continue voting.
