The Austrian Art Curia defends its controversial proposal to include the conductor Teodor Currentzis in its circle. Decisions about appointments to the Curia and the awarding of the decoration are based “exclusively on the outstanding creative achievements of a person and their contribution to art,” according to a statement to the APA. “The focus is not on a person’s behavior, but on the meaning of their work.”
