We hear a lot about the health-promoting properties and herbs. Sea buckthorn also belongs to this group. This is a slightly forgotten plant that has accompanied our grandmothers for years — thanks to it, many people could be chased away. It is also worth using these methods today.

Sea buckthorn is a plant that is not well known in Poland, but it often occurs here. It is worth remembering about it, because these small, orange balls are rich in vitamin C – they have three times more of it than blackcurrant. In terms of the content of this ingredient, they are second only to wild rose. According to the National Center for Nutrition Education, sea buckthorn is the best source of vitamin C (it contains up to 900 mg per 100 g of fresh fruit).

What’s more, sea buckthorn contains as much as 190 bioactive substancesthat support the functioning of the body, including: relieve the symptoms of colds. it can be used in the form of oil, juice or raw fruit. In each of these forms, it is healthy for the body. In winter, it is especially good to make a decoction of it for tea.

In turn, the addition of ginger improves circulation and warms the body. It is the perfect spice when we lack energy. Ginger has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antiviral properties, making it a perfect complement to sea buckthorn tea.

If we want to prepare this delicious drink, we must first cook it a concentrate that can be kept for up to a monthafter this time it is better to make a new one. To prepare the concentrate you need:

  • 300 g of sea buckthorn fruit (can be fresh or frozen),
  • 150 g of liquid honey,
  • 20 g fresh ginger.

If we need a concentrate, e.g. for the whole family, we can make several portions at the same time.

Preparation of the concentrate:

  1. First, we need to finely chop the ginger root.
  2. Next, place the sea buckthorn berries and ginger in the blender. Mix until a uniform consistency is obtained.
  3. Then rub the resulting mixture through a sieve with larger holes. Add honey to the pureed mass and mix thoroughly.
  4. Concentrate belongs store in the refrigeratorin a well-closed jar.

Prepare the tea from 1-2 teaspoons of concentratewhich should be poured with warm water (approx. 40 degrees C), thanks to which the honey will not lose its properties. If necessary, it can be additionally sweetened with another dose of honey.
