Why clean burners regularly?
Regular cleaning of the gas stove burner is not only a matter of aesthetics, but greatly extends the life of the appliance and at the same time ensures safe and efficient cooking. Dirt and burnt-on food residues adversely affect the performance of the burners, impair the taste of the food being prepared, and even pose a safety risk.
How exactly to proceed
Before cleaning the burners, always close the gas valve first. In the next step, remove the cover of the burners and then remove their heads as well. Then soak them in a solution of warm water and the chosen cleaning agent for about 20 to 30 minutes to loosen dirt deposits.
Then wash them with a sponge, in the case of large deposits, scrub them with a brush, an old toothbrush is a very good helper in this case. Then rinse the individual pieces thoroughly with clean water and wipe them dry. Finally, assemble the individual parts and test each burner to see if it works. And what means is best to use?
Baking soda
Baking soda or baking soda is a popular ecological cleaning agent that can easily deal with stubborn dirt. You have two options to use it. Either dissolve the baking soda in warm water and put the burners in it, or mix it with a little water to make a thick paste, which you apply to the burners and let it work.
Vinegar
Another natural and non-toxic cleaning agent that can be used to clean burners is vinegar. Compared to commercial means, it is an affordable alternative. Mix vinegar and water in a ratio of 1:1 and let the burners soak in this solution, in case of heavy contamination you can boil them in it for a while and then clean them according to the above procedure.
Lemon juice
You can also use the power of lemon juice, which can literally do wonders for removing dirt and grease. It works similarly to vinegar, plus it has a pleasant aroma. Mix the juice of one lemon with warm water and place the burners in this bath to soak.
Clogged nozzles
When maintaining the burners, do not forget to properly clean the nozzles through which the gas flows. They also tend to be heavily clogged. Carefully thread a thin needle through each hole. This will get rid of dust and soot, which reduce the overall performance of the appliance.
