The Minister of Institutional Relations, stated that the government will guide a vote against the one applied by the STF (Federal Supreme Court) to those convicted of the attempted coup d’état.
The president of , (), decided that the project should be voted on this Tuesday (9) by the plenary. According to Motta, there were no conversations with the president of , Davi Alcolumbre (-AP), regarding when the House could vote on the project.
“The project contradicts a decision in which the STF and Brazil demonstrated independence and sovereignty, in addition to weakening legislation that protects democracy against future coup attempts,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “The same text that proposes to toughen the progression of sentences for a series of crimes grants a benefit to already convicted political criminals.”
Gleisi called the project a setback and stated that a political arrangement cannot weaken the country’s legislation.
Motta’s move to lead the vote comes two days after the senator (-RJ), who launched himself as President of the Republic, announced that the price for giving up his candidacy would be the approval of an amnesty and that his father, (PL), could run next year — the former president is ineligible. In an interview with Sheetand said that his candidacy is irreversible.
