UGT admits the possibility of a new general strike

General strike: minimum services already defined for this Thursday

Mário Marão, general secretary of UGT, does not rule out a new general strike after strong support for this Thursday’s strike, remembering that these “can never be excluded when you are sitting at the negotiating table”.

“Strikes can never be excluded when we are at the negotiating table. Therefore, we do not exclude a general strike, but it is not currently planned. If things do not go well [bem]naturally we will listen to our unions again and listen to the UGT bodies to know the path to follow from this”, he guaranteed.

José Abrão, from FESAP, explained to SIC Notícias that “it is clearly a major health strike. There are services where the strike is 100%, namely the consultation service, which is the one where people feel the strike most immediately. According to him, “in health, what is working are, in fact, the minimum to meet those urgent situations”.
